The new building provided 18 patient bedrooms and a
range of ancillary spaces on the ground floor, with administrative and office
accommodation located on the first floor.
Cooper Homewood were appointed to deliver full mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) consulting engineering services across RIBA Stages 2 through 6. Our scope included concept design, developed and technical design, procurement support, and post-tender technical reviews. During the construction phase, we also provided regular site monitoring, commissioning witnessing, and support through practical completion and the defects period.
In addition to core MEP services, Cooper Homewood undertook a suite of sustainability deliverables, including the development of the energy strategy, SBEM calculations for both design and as-built conditions, EPC preparation, and thermal modelling assessments in accordance with CIBSE TM52. All services were delivered in alignment with local planning and regulatory compliance requirements.
Cooper Homewood’s involvement on this project reflected a hands-on, collaborative approach, ensuring coordinated integration with the wider design team and delivering high-performance, sustainable engineering solutions tailored to the sensitive needs of a modern hospice facility.
